Is it okay to put my goldfish in an old pickle jar?

My friend and I both got two goldfish at the fair today. We don't have aquariums, but when we got home we just so happened to find two one gallon pickle jars. We cleaned them, the first I cleaned with soap (until reading how harmful it was) and we're letting the other sit with hot water in it. Do you think any pickle-ness will stay? I know its a weird question XD
