Can I become a nurse practitioner ?

I really do want to become a nurse practitioner...i love nursing and I think when I offically become a nurse Ill want more ...I already see how limited nurses are in what they can do but their approach to medicine is exactly what I want and enjoy.... I know in order to become an NP it will take 4 yrs of bsn work and 2 years msn and 2 year np certification..... but I was told that I could seek an MSN-NP program to save money and time....I want to do as such but how long will it take to be a nurse practitioner through the msn np program and where can I find such programs in the USA....and could I become an np without officially working for a full year as a nurse
